September 24-28

Math
We are finishing up our unit on Place Value and Addition & Subtraction this week. A review will come home on Tuesday to be completed and signed by a parent, and returned first thing Wednesday morning. We will assess on Wednesday during math over these skills. On Thursday we will start our new unit on Data Analysis and have some fun with frequency tables.

Reading
We will be reading a story in our Journey's textbooks called Max's Words. We will discuss and practice sequencing events this week. Students' vocabulary words will come from this fun story.

Writing
Since including details is such an important part when writing personal narratives, we will spend a few more days on Show, Don't Tell. We have really enjoyed practicing this skill in class! We'll end the week by thinking about how we want to "hook" our reader into our story with a great introduction to our personal narratives.

Social Studies
This week in social studies we will be discussing the 3 branches of government.

Science
We will be doing many hands on activities to better understand mixtures and solutions. Students will be assessed with the unit district assessment on Friday.
